I see there is an AutoAreas option _but_ it requires feeding a CSV of _all_ the file areas, if I'm parsing the documentation correctly.

No, you just specify the file *library* names (in tickit.ini), e.g. AutoAreas=fsxNet,FidoNet
What's the best way of tickit.js automatically hatching files into the areas? (The codes will match).
just a note that TickIt does not hatch files... it only processes TICs and their associated file to add them to your filebase
and send them on to linked systems that have not yet seen the file in question...
hatching files is the process of injecting a file and its TIC into the FDN distribution stream...

Thanks for this.
The challenge for me now is that the documentation says the 'directory names' need to be valid tags.
However, my directory names (default as created when you import) are of the format:
FIDONET_NODELIST
With the generated 'FIDONET_' prefix.
This seems to fail to match an area tag of 'NODELIST'.
What's the best way forward with this?
With the generated 'FIDONET_' prefix.
Are you sure that's not the "internal code" you're looking at?
In the latest Synchronet builds (I think in v3.19b too), there's a "FidoNet
Area Tag" field. Set that to match the proper area tag and then the other fields (long/short name, internal code) can be
whatever you like. --

Ah, yes, you are correct.

Thanks Rob. So, following from this:
1. The 'Import Areas' tool in scfg doesn't auto-populate this Tag when importing from a FILEGATE format file. What's the easiest way to set them to be the (current) internal code as part of this process?
2. Suggestion: Can tickit be adjusted so that AutoAreas also works if the 'FidoNet Area Tag' field matches?

'FidoNet Area Tag' field matches?
It already does.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I have the AutoAreas=FIDONEWS,NASA,... My shortname is FIDONEWS for FidoNews, NASA for NASA, yet I still get the following:
Reading script from /sbbs/exec/tickit.js
/sbbs/exec/tickit.js compiled in 0.00 seconds
TickIT 2.0
Parsing ../fido/inbound/AP220307.tic
Working with 'AP220307.ZIP' in 'NASA'.
Unable to find path for area 'NASA'!
Abandoning ../fido/inbound/AP220307.tic
Parsing ../fido/inbound/FNEWTD10.tic
Working with 'FNEWTD10.ZIP' in 'FIDONEWS'.
Unable to find path for area 'FIDONEWS'!
Abandoning ../fido/inbound/FNEWTD10.tic
/sbbs/exec/tickit.js executed in 0.12 seconds
NASA is configured as...
[NASA Directory]
1: Long Name NASA: Earth & Space Science Material
2: Short Name NASA
3: Internal Code FTNFIDONNASA
4: FidoNet Area Tag [NASA]
Am I missing something?
Hi,
I've set up a large number of file areas based on the Filegate list.
What's the best way of tickit.js automatically hatching files into the areas? (The codes will match).

I think if you want to hatch files, you might want to use something like Allfix
